DSEs present robust peer-reviewed validation for ROS scavenging and plant stress tolerance, and can be cultured in vitro via solid-state fermentation on low-cost waste feedstocks. The 13-14 day production cycle requires minimal CapEx while enabling 90%+ margins in a multi-billion dollar addressable market.

A rejection is not a claim that the science is wrong. It means the venture case did not survive: the comparator was not what the buyer actually buys, the comparison was not like-for-like, the advantage fell short of a step change, or the capital and time to first revenue were prohibitive.
